Chicago-based singer, songwriter, and poet Jamila Woods closes the Art Institute Block Party with a performance of poetic and political R&B songs from LEGACY! LEGACY!, an album that explores the work and influence of pioneering artists of color such as James Baldwin, Frida Kahlo, Miles Davis, and Octavia Butler. With LEGACY! LEGACY!, Woods builds a sonic and lyrical monument to the many ways these icons tried to push beyond the margins assigned to them.
